toshiba satellite laptop 850 crashing

I have a toshiba satellite 850. no gaming going on, just normal shopping, bill paying, etc. last 2 months just turns off and I get a black screen. turns back on . have tried everything! help!

See if it will run without the battery, only on wall power. If that does not work, unplug both wall power and battery, hold in the power button for about 30 seconds, try again.

If that does not work, make sure the drive is seated properly, check the fans and vents to make sure they are clean, you may need to clean off the heatsink and install it again with new thermal paste. If that also does not work, could be a dead motherboard.
