i recently bought a toshiba satellite l750 laptop
it has an intel i5 2430m processor which runs at 2.4ghz, intel hd graphics, 750gb hard drive, 6gb ram
when i have the CPU running at 100% using prime95 the temps reach over 85C (this is with the turbo boost enabled)
when i have the turbo boost disabled and the CPU is running at 100% with prime95, the temps reach 81C

is this safe? i mean are these ok temperatures for the laptop to run without causing any harm to the CPU or other components?

I bought the exact same laptop, and I'm having a similar issue. My CPU temperatures are around 75-83C when I'm playing counter-strike source on medium settings (and it reaches this temp after only 1-2 minutes of playing)... RAM temps only go to 40C and HDD sits at 35C

Idle temps are around CPU 44C, RAM 38C, HDD 33C .

Will it reduce the lifespan of the laptop if it stays at this high temperature for a long period of time (1 to 2 hours)?

I've found out that the i5 2430m is able to handle temperatures up to 100C... but it just doesn't seem safe to run it at 80C for a long time.

Sorry for asking a question in your thread sarfraz, but I figured that since they are similar problems then it would be better to have all replies in one.

thats alright! its exactly what i was thinking about the processor. it says on the intel website that the maximum temps it can run at is 100C
