Toshiba Satellite shuts down randomly P755D

‎ I have a Satellite P755D and it constantly shutting down, it could start from two to five minutes and its shuts off and it will not power on again. I have read in some forums that it could be defective start button but Toshiba will not admit it I don’t think is overheating since is cold when you start it and it shuts down in a couple of minutes or it will not power up at all. This laptop is practically brand new since I could never use it. I would appreciate if somebody has an idea on how to repair this nice looking paper weight since Toshiba has been NO help and of course the warranty ran out.

have u tried booting up with the ac adapter or battery only?

Underneath the pretty silver power button is a cheaply made membrane switch that, after a while, develops a intermittent short. You can test this out by pressing the laptop case in different places near, but not on, the power button. I've yet to find a replacement for mine, but I do have a fix. I set up the laptop to power up when i open the panel, you can do this in the BIOS, then remove that switch (or you can just disconnect the ribbon cable). If you're handy with a set of jewelers screwdrivers, this will be a quick and easy fix. There are a few vids up on YouTube that can help you through opening the laptop up properly. Google it! LOL

And while you are in there, clean out the heat exchanger located next to the fan. I pulled a small amount of dark "fuzz" from mine...

The fix suggested does not work, followed the instructions and disconnected the power cable and set the BIOS. The laptop will not power up with the start button disconnected.

if its not power on again after first shuts off, possibly its not the power button. If its the power button you can find solutions here:
