Toshiba satllite c55-b5298 win 8.1 .... reboot and select proper boot device

My Toshiba laptop fell to the floor and rebooted at first it was running fine until it rebooted again it start saying reboot and select proper boot device... I've tried reinstalling windows 8.1 from a boot able flash drive but keep getting an error that says missing drive partition I checked the bios and it detected the HDD so I tried resetting it and got the same error that says missing drive partition... It would be really awesome if someone could help me out

was the laptop on when is was dropped as the drive appears to be damaged?

Yes it was on ... And no the drive is not damage atleast from what I can see

damaged as in bad sectors on the drive platters. take the drive out of the laptop & hook it up as a secondary drive as the sata & power connectors of the drive are compatible to your desktop computers's hadrive(if that is what you are posting on this site) & your optical drive if it is sata. run a scandisk to check for bad sectors & retrieve any documents & other stuff you want saved.
