Toshiba Service Station

I keep getting a message that Toshiba Service Station has stopped working? What is it and does it matter if it is working or not?

You don't specify what type device this is, but on my Toshiba tablet, the service station is an APP that looks for firmware updates and notifies when they are available.

What kanewolf said. If memory serves, it looks for Toshiba model specific firmware/driver updates. I personally would uninstall it, as you can occasionally look for available updates yourself at the Toshiba website.
