Trackpad and Keyboard no longer work after Screen Install on Dell laptop.

I just changed out the screen on my Dell 17r-5737, through a quarrel with my ex, which involved unplugging the keyboard and trackpad, along with the power button via ribbon cables. I have done this to other laptops before and I did unlatch the ribbon holders, but now only the power button works. The laptop is running windows 8.1, and will react to my external mouse and keyboard. I have unplugged and replugged at least 100 times now, and can't seem to mitigate the problem. Anyone know the problem?

Sometimes the ribbon cables crack on the lines, you can replace the ribbon cable on the touchpad (ebay) but the keyboard should just work if it is truly attached properly. Hard to imagine after a hundred tries that you haven't got it right though.
