Question Transfer cable help

I just purchased an old sharp hi8 camcorder so I can view and upload my old tapes. I have an older Mac, 2012 I believe? I need help figuring out what wire I need to connect my camera to my Mac so I can import the videos. Can anyone tell me what I should be looking for? Tyia!

What you need depends on the model of the camcorder. If both have firewire then you can use a firewire cable.
