Trouble hooking up lg smart tv to onxyo home theater surround sound system.

I have the hdmi hookup on my tv and stereo it still no sound comes out the surround speakers when I watch TV,Netflix,Amazon. Just get the tv sound. If I put a cd or dvd movie in the stereo system I can get surround sound throough all speakers then. Please help' I got the 42 inch smart tv to b able to hear surround sound through it. Very disgusted

First check the audio menu in the TV and try changing the output to one of the other choices.
Second try a different surround sound mode in the surround system. The rear speakers will not play on many programs because they are not in surround sound. A different mode will synthesize surround so you get rear channel sound.
