Trying to hook up red,white,yellow plugs to a insignia tv

Those are all analog connections. The yellow RA plug would go to the Video in of the TV. The Red/White RCA connectors are Audio and go to the Right/Left audio in, respectively.

To actually see the DVD, you would have to use the TV remote to select the Video input .
