Trying to link bluetooth speaker to my tv with a usb dongle

I have a Sony SRS-X3 portable speaker with Bluetooth capabilities. I wanted to be able to pair it with my TVs. I have a Samsung and Vizio TV neither have Bluetooth but do have USB ports so i bought a Bluetooth 4.0 transmitter(Asus BT400). I plugged the dongle into my TV and had the speaker search for it but they never connected. i looked at the menu on the TV under audio settings but found nothing about the adapter. Any ideas?

The TV isn't designed to put out audio over USB. I use a "jaybird BAU" to do something similar (except using BT headphones); that little unit uses a USB for charging but uses an audio jack for the actual signal. That BT400 is meant for a desktop or laptop computer, not a TV

So i need a bluetooth receiver that hooks up the audio jack instead? Are there cheaper alternatives to the one you have? I only spent 20 for the dongle.. thanks for your quick response btw

Yes, you need an adapter that fits the audio jack. I don't recall paying what's currently listed for that adapter though that was a couple of years ago (it may be out of stock now).

okay thanks for the help. Guess I'll just use the usb receiver for my computer and order the audio jack one.
