DTS is at least 20 years old, amazing any new piece of equipment don't support it. But you are worrying for nothing, Dolby Digital is the standard, with DD you will be able to play 98% of what's out there.
All broadcast and cable TV is Dolby.
If you play a disc select the Dolby Digital soundtrack not the DTS.
Set the audio of any streamer or app to Dolby.
For a manufacturer to support each audio codec they have to have the correct hardware but they also have to pay for a license to use the software and a fee for each unit they sell so many makers limit the audio that is supported. Sometimes they have a non standard way of processing the audio to avoid paying for the legit way.
