VLC is a lightweight media player that pretty much plays any media format you throw at it.

Surely Apple would pull it themselves, with this I can play torrented files with no conversion and am not forced to buy TV or movies from iTunes - doesn't that warrant the automatic Apple Ban Hammer?

The platform that needs this more than any is WP7 and WP8. That is one major reason why I shy from using my WP7.5 smartphone.
