unlock my inspiron 1545 laptop touchpad

I received a inspiron 1545 as a gift. the touchpad is locked or disable. Can you help me with this issue? Also I have no button on this laptop that look like a pad. I spent over 3 hrs with Dell.com trying to get this issue resolved. Its still not resolved

Try connecting with a USB mouse for now. Then, in Windows, go into the Start Menu > Control Panel > search "touch pad" and you should find something.

If that doesn't work, try shutting down your computer completely. Wait 10 seconds. Turn it back on.
