Unplugged lapop keboard while running, possible that more components are damaged?

I foolishly unplugged my laptop keyboard while it was running. Now, cerain keys no longer work. I have ordered a replacement keboard, but is it possible that the laptop motherboard was damaged, or perhaps some possibilty that it won't work, even with a new keyboard?

Maybe, depending on how your mobo interfaces with peripherals you could try a usb mouse and see if it does the same thing.

For clarification, it was the integrated keyboard of my laptop, not an external USB keyboard. The USB ports are just fine.

The keys which do not work are the keys t, y, leftshift, capslock, tab, f3, 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 0, and insert. Afer searching he internet for these specific keys, aparrenly many others have also had similar keys fail to work.
