Upgrade potential or junk?

Hi all, can i check the potential/ room for upgrade for this laptop of this build:

Model: TOSHIBA Satellite L510
Processor: Intel duo core 2 CPU p7450 @2.13GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM
BIOS: InsydeH20 version 1.30
OS: Windows 7 Home
Graphics card: ati mobility radeon hd 4500 series

wanted to build a mid-ranged desktop but due to some financial constraints, might have to makeshift with what I have currently.... OR should i just consider selling it off...

Its not worth upgrading any laptop. They aren't made to upgrade.

for gaming you need a major upgrade , cpu should be a latest i5 eg i5 2500 if you have a budget. you need 8gb ram at 1600mhz. gpu should be a gtx 660ti or gaming of course you will need a mobo ugrade if you upgrade your cpu to a newer socket also the os is fine if its 64 bit so keep that product key

then what are some specs to take into consideration nowadays?
I'm not a hardcore gamer but hopes to get one which can support good graphics which could also be used for multimedia and normal utilities
