I am upgrading my laptop with an SSD my query is, I currently use outlook 2003, will I need to re-install outlook using a disk, it's just that a friend installed outlook on my laptop a few years ago and I no longer have access to a disk. I'm also concerned that I'm going to lose all my sub folders containing old e-mails that I've filed

Solution
The mails are in a container file, probably a .pst (I'm an old man; the file type may have changed since the last time I did that).

If you have a copy of that file and re-install outlook, you can set your personal folder to that file and get everything back. Don't ask me how; I haven't done it since a version from the 1990s.

It's mentioned here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287070
