UPS with 4DTV receiver

Does anyone use a UPS with their receiver?
Any specific ones good for this (what power requirements)?

Lost my unit id last summer, don't want a repeat this year.
We lose current here (momentary) quite a lot during summer storms.
Have a good surge supressor on the entire system, but the quick
on/offs during times i'm not home to unplug everything was told
to me as the probable cause for the wipe-out of the last receiver.

Ideas?

I started with an APC Smart-UPS 700 for my computer, and then later did
likewise for the 922, TV, VCR and receiver.

That way I can record while I'm away from home without having to worry
about power outages (the receiver needs to be on all the time for
recording, got tired of the 922 & VCR losing their settings, and went
thru a period where the TV went thru 'quick on/offs' and figured it
didn't need to (either)).

Separate surge surpressors for the other stuff (don't plug surge
surpressor into UPS and vice versa).

Your loss of ID number is because the battery inside the receiver went dead.
The battery will go dead in 7 to 10 years (or if you are lucky longer)
whether it is plugged in or not. The same goes for the VCII module.

Poor ventilation will also expidite it.

Do a search on Google to learn about replacement. (3.6 volt lithium)

What are you looking for? Data protection from a power
loss? Or transient protection so that hardware is not
damaged. Both are completely different solutions that are
typically located in different locations. If your 'good'
protector is adjacent to equipment, then it is the type that
protects from the type of surge that does not typically
exist. 'Good' protectors costs maybe $1 per protected
appliance. Ineffective protectors typically costs about $15
or $60.

All of which is irrelevant to keeping a power loss (which is
not a power surge) from erasing a unit id.

In the meantime, start with some basics about protecting
receiver systems such as "Installation question, grounding the
satellite" in the newsgroup alt.satellite.direcpc on 20 Nov

"Dish grounding question" in rec.video.satellite.dbs on 8 Jun

This being different from a plug-in UPS to only protect from
power loss.
