USB 3.0

Hi, I recently purchased a Sager 5165 and it came with two usb 3.0 ports. I also have a Seagate External HD and I was trying to use the usb 3.0 ports but it wouldn't work. They were going at the same speeds as usb 2.0. I've tried downloading the drivers from Sager again and on the external they had something for it but still didn't work. USB 2.0 works on these ports but 3.0 doesn't. What am I doing wrong here?

Your external drives are they usb 3.0 (blue connectors)?

Oh.. wow I just pulled out the box of the external drive and it says USB 3.0 upgradeable. This means I would have to get another cable doesn't it?

Yes, get the usb 3.0 connector (I assume you have seagate goflex).
