Does anyone manufacture a USB3.0 PCMCIA card adapter for older laptops? Not an "express" card adapter; I have one of those. I'd like to obtain a USB-3 adapter for my 2004 Dell Insprion 1000, which has 2 PCMCIA slots.

I don't think you read my question: your link is to an "express" card device. I have one of those for my newer laptop. I need the same thing for PCMCIA slots - the older ones. Express slots & PCMCIA are different & you can't use one in the other.

I don't think you will find one because the PC Card format is not fast enough.
I found an adapter "ExpressAdapt PCMCIA PC CardBus to USB Mode ExpressCard Adapter" on this site : http/www.synchrotech.com/products-expc/pcmcia-pc_cardbus-usb-expresscard-adapter-expressadapt.html
But it is working with USB 2.0 Mode ExpressCards only.

Okay, but as I wrote in my original question: I just bought an "express" card USB3.0 adapter. I'm seeking an USB3 adapter with the older PCMCIA interface - not an "express" interface. I guess no one makes one. I know about the transfer speed but it would have to be faster than USB2, I'd think.

Unfortunately there is no manufacturer that produces a PCMCIA Cardbus USB 3.0 adapter because those adapters are directly connected to the main bus of the PC and the bandwdth is limited.. Theorically the USB 3.0 is able to transmit 4800Mbps or 600MBps but the reality shows a 400MBps. So a USB 3.0 device will never operate properly with a cardbus adapter. This is why we find PCMCIA "Express Card" on the market.

What we can find are 1,2,4 ports USB 2.0 PCMCIA Carbus adapters and those with a real 320Mbps or 40MBps. It is eactly the same thing for a eSATA cardbus adapter we have to match the bandwidth between the device and the input connection.
