Use of SD slot for Extended vs Expanded memory on newer Android OS Tablets

Can any of the newer Android tablets with an SD slot run movable apps from extended memory (e.g. from an SD card, to free up more memory on the tablet)? My older Samsung Galaxy GT-P1010 (Froyo 2.2) can, but I have heard that Google has dropped support for this feature on its newer OS systems with SD slots. Is this true? Now the SD card can supposedly be used only to store pictures, music, etc. Is this true?

Philip, thank you for your response. That is disappointing. I assume that Google tablets such as the Nexus 7 allow the movement/storage of apps to Google Cloud, etc., and that the apps cannot be run from the cloud (or other external storage devices), but only stored there for later re-installation. Is this an accurate assumption on my part?
