is it possible to find a good quad core notebook used for around $250?
or is that too low.

also do the intel chips have longer battery life then the amd?

Solution
This is going to be very very very challenging and almost impossible because even i3 2c/4t cost around $500-600 new and the cpu alone cost at around or over $100.

So I think you will have to get 2nd hand:

Even so, it is still very very very difficult. The laptop's price is going to go up (the laptop seller is setting the start bid price low) and I am not surprise to see it go over your budget once the end is near and people start bidding, so good luck making the bid.

battery life depends on more than just CPU, so question like that won't get you anywhere.

quad core for 250 USD? I think that's a bit too low, well maybe like a used Phenom II

I mean the i7-2630 is around $250 on its own

Actually, it's the same one... I'd ask the seller what's up with the re-listing before bidding.
