Question Using a lav mic with a Sony Handycam AX53

Hello,

Can anyone help me to get my lav mic working properly with my handycam? The mic is a new MOVO PM10 which I've connected to an extension cable so it reaches a few yards away. When I connect it to the external mic socket, the menu shows there's another mic there, but..... no sound arrives, only buzzing. I'm afraid I've bust it somehow but would love to hear from someone who knows about these things.

Did you try using it without the extension cable?

Hello, and thank you so much for getting back to me. Pause for huge embarrassment: overnight I remembered that there's another short connecting cable which transforms the MOVO's TRRS into a TRS jack, and when I put that into the mix, hey presto, perfect sound... I feel like crawling under a very large stone.
