To bad this service is NOT available, to the rural customers whom need it most. Only useful in those fringe 4G areas, around the edges of capital cities and the like, and they have cheaper cable/dsl anyway. Out in sticks, you're still only able to get dial-up or satellite.

Hopefully once there will be competition in this area the price will go down.

From their FAQ site (http/support.verizonwireless.com/faqs/Wireless%20Service/faq_homefusion.html), you can only get it in the cities of:

•Birmingham, AL
•Dallas, TX
•Nashville, TN

So, for the remaining 95% of the US population, this is a non-event.

Every country has better broadband than the US. The US stifles competition in this arena. Yes, this service is awful. $90/month for 20 GB? Their 4G doesn't come close to 12 Mbit either. Oh well!

In fairness, the lower 48 US is 8,080,464.3 square km, vs South Korea's 99,392 square km...

But many of those countries have a much higher population density and much smaller area to cover. I'm not saying we are doing great in USA, but lots of factors can play into coverage.

Didn't they used to offer broadband with FiOS..?
Plus since it uses the 4G LTE wireless network it won't be as fast as cable.
Seems similar to Clear.

I doubt anyone who can't get wired high speed in their area will be able to pick up 4G.

I see this as a high cost waste of wireless spectrum. Like one poster pointed out: Rural users who need it most might not get signal. For city dwellers, we'de be better served by verizon investing more in FIOS and get that to us. T

Very high price, very low data cap and very limited availability mean this is a no go for anyone is half informed.

Even if they don't cut your service if they detect this: Doesn't Verizon have caps on phone data too? Like 5 GB?

In a month my home 10M/1M connection runs on average 100gb down and 20gb up for a total of 120gb/mo. Using their service, that would come out to...120gb - 30gb = 90gb -> $120 + 90gb * $10/gb = $1020/mo for more latency, and wildly inconsistent data rates.....I think that's a steal!!!

And for the higher prices I pay here in the states I have 100 feet from my closest neighbor. I much prefer the sparse surburban life with slower (but adequate) internet, than living in an apartment/condo situation with internet far faster than most webservers can put out. When population densities are low, internet costs more. Just ask anyone who lives out in the midwest who has to pay upwards of $40-80/month for satellite internet that is slower than DSL.

At school we get 1 gigabit uncapped ports for our LAN events, which is pretty epic to see over 2tb downloaded in under a day. Our upload isn't that bad either like 500-600mbps.
