How can I get a video movie onto an SD card and play it on my PPC?

First, you need to get the movie on to your PC. You'll
need a video cature card and software for this. Get it
onto the PC in the best quality you can.

Next, download "Windows Media Encoder" from the windows
media part of the MS site. This allows you to re-encode
video into various formats using the windows media codecs.

Read the help sections about codecs and quality Encoder
has some default configs for Pocket PCs already and you
can try tweaking them to get the best results. The key is
to encode to the best quality such that the resultant
file will just fit on your SD card.

I have a Toshiba e400 and used WMV9 OK. Some Pocket PCs
may not have enough CPU to handle this newer, more
complex codec, in which case use WMV8.

You can make full use of your screen by encoding to
320x240 pixels, then, while watching on the Pocket PC,
switch to full screen mode and media player will rotate
the pictue to make best use of the screen.

I basically use this method as well but for those that want the easy
approach there's also "DVD to Pocket PC" which you can buy from somewhere
like Handango.com
