Vintage Zeiss lens

I have a Nikon D300 and have been given a Carl Zeiss Jena DDR MC S 1:3.5f=135,could anyone tell me what adapter ring to buy for it?

What lens mount was it made for? I would guess the M42 version was most popular, but there should be several versions.

I wouldn't have a clue,I'm something of a novice at this

In that case, I would suggest selling asking the person who gave you the lens. Given a photo of the mount we might be able to make a guess, but in all likelihood the lens would need an expensive adapter rather than cheaper ones (i.e. one with optics built in)
