I'm trying to hook up sound from the PS3 to the tv and I also want to know if I can hook up my surround with a Kenwood receiver

Need the model of the TV and how you are trying to hook up the PS3, can't you just use HDMI? HDMI transmits sound.

Your TV should have an audio out, run the PS3 to the TV, connect the TV audio out to the receiver. If you want to split the audio in the PS3 before the TV, http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/audiomulti.html
