VMPS Super Tower III

I am looking into buying a pair of VMPS Super Tower III's. They are in great condition and the person is asking $1,000. Does that sound like a fair price?

What's the date of manufacture on them? Have they been restored? Haven't STIII's been around for 20+ years at this point?
