vr ready pc?

hi there. i have a pc with the following specs:
xeon x5650
radeon 7970
12 gb memory
i am thinking to buy oculus rift and a new gpu propably,
i cant afford to buy a new cpu because i will have to buy a new pc afer all and i dont have money.
is my pc going to be vr ready with a new gpu or i will have to forget the idea with this prossecor

I think if you are thinking about VR and dorpping $500, you may want to consider investing that into a new computer overall and wait on VR prices to come down. Trying to do heavy gaming on a 7 year old chip will only cause problems.
