I want to play my T V input in zone 2. It doesn't seem to be a viable option? It works just fine for zone 1. I am connected via digital optical cable

Solution
Many receivers won't convert a digital input to analog for the zone 2 output.
If the TV has an analog audio out (which is rare) or a headphone jack you can connect that to a different input on the receiver and use that connection for zone 2 TV audio. If you have a set top box that has analog audio outs you can connect that for zone 2 use.
You could also split the optical audio out and connect one output to the input you are using now. The other output would go to an DAC that would convert the optical to analog. That would connect to another input on the receiver for zone 2 use.
