I have an old Gateway laptop, its probably the first gen i7 and i thought i bring some life in to it with an ssd in what at first looked like a normal sata drive bay. Now i cant figure out what it is.

First, its upright and not facing forward????
Second, the cut out are in the wrong spot????

A 2.5" drive will fit nicely in the space in front of this but its not like any connector i have ever seen.

This bay was empty from that start. It never had anything in it. The other side has a normal sata. "It looks like they wanted to lift the drive out vertically rather than slide it" that makes seance because the 2.5" drive fits perfectly with almost no space to move. Now the question is what is this cable called Sata to xxx? probably some Ribbon cable?
