After 3 long years my Turtle Beach PX22 headset finally broke. It still works, but the left ear cup his hanging by a wire. I am now looking for a new headset. I was looking at Sennheiser and the Audio?Technica ATH M50X Full Size Headphones However I'm really lost and have no idea which ones to buy..

-I'm looking for an open backed design
-I want headphones that have good, powerful bass
-My budget is $200 I can go a little higher if a soundcard/amp is necessary
-I want to know if I should get an amp, if so which one
-I want headphones for gaming (PC) and music
-I want exciting sounding headphones
-I am honestly wanting to buy GOOD headphones and a separate mic ( such as a mod mic, or yeti) rather than a headset. As "Gaming" headsets are overpriced for what they are.
-Which microphone should I buy?

These headphones are great. They are open backed and will be great for gaming and music. I personally don't like the color, but if you wanna spend the extra $30 you can get a sexy black color. They are also known to be VERY comfortable.

As for the microphone, both the Blue yeti and mod mic are great choices. The blue yeti will of course give you the better quality, but the mod mic is a lot smaller and takes up less room. I would personally get the blue yeti if you want to do any kind of voice recording.

My SteelSeries Siberia V2 ($68.00) are still alive to this day after three and a half thousand hours of gaming and numerous amounts of desk-height drops onto the floor. The headset is very comfortable however after long gaming sessions they do start to get on my nerves. The design of the headset is small and in my opinion very nice, making it great for public use. Furthermore, the Siberia has a built in microphone which you can easily pull in and out making it look like a normal headset. Despite the headset being designed for gaming, it has a astonishing amount of bass that will make your ears tingle.

And for your microphone, I'd advise looking at the Audio-Technica or Sennheiser series. A good microphone is the audio technica at2020 ($99.00) but if you do decide to get the headset I have then you can get an even better microphone as you got around $130.00 spare.

Yeah, i didn't buy these at the time I was looking for headphones because they didn't have the special edition black color ones and I hated the color of the original. Here's another option if you wanna look at these.

it's pretty cheap and I have more money to spend, just wondering about them.

Yeah those look awesome. I guess since those are pretty cheap if you wanna put a little money into getting an amp you can get something like this. It's great for things like bassier type music and sound effects.
