What is Xbox One SmartGlass?

So I downloaded Xbox SmartGlass but I don't know what it does please help!

It lets you control various functions on your XBox through your phone/tablet. If I recall correctly from the 360 version of the app, it let you do things like playback control when viewing media and using your device as a keyboard when having to type in the interface. You could always try to read the manual to learn all its features. Or just play around with it until you discover some fun things.
