I'm not sure if I put this in the right category but I'm looking to buy a laptop and I don't know which one I should buy.

I'm looking for a laptop with:

500GB of storage at least.

Not a touch screen (I don't like them)

Around $1000 don't want to spend more than $1200

Good battery life (at least 5 hours)

Windows operating system

Screen at least 15"

If anyone knows a great laptop that'd be great.

While this may be overkill for what you may use it for http:// and I recommend upgrading to the IPS screen.

Lenovo W models are very reliable and made with high end parts and materials. The 550s looks to have good battery life as well.

Will be the last system you would need this decade and will very likely run for 10 years like many Lenovo business class systems.

Maybe the new Dell XPS 15 with the Infinity Display is a viable option. The thin bezel of the Infinity Display means this laptop with a 15.6" screen is about the same size as a 14" laptop and it starts at under 4lbs. Battery life is unknown since there is so far no in-depth yet, but the 56WHr battery should easily provide 5 hours of battery life when not playing any games.

It starts out at $999 for the Core i3-6100H with a clock speed of 2.7GHz which is the same max clock speed of the i5-4200u in my Dell Latitude 3540 laptop. The Intel HD 530 should be good enough for light games; Notebookchech.net ranks it to be about equal to the nVidia 920m.

The $1,199 comes with a quad core i5-6300HQ (no hyper threading) and it has a nVidia GTX 960m GPU. That should bring the weight slightly above 4lbs.
