What security should I use while gaming?

I have been using Kaspersky Total Security 2016 for a bit, however, some games I have to run in full screen windowed (due to black screen error in full screen) so game mode doesn't activate while playing. This makes the game much slower and takes a long time just to load up. Is there anyway to turn game mode on without having games in full screen? Or if not are there any other free security that I can get that will allow me to run game mode while not in full screen or that will not affect my PC performance much?

I just use windows defender + malware-bytes.

I have malwarebytes, however I'm not sure if windows defender provides good enough protection for my PC.

no security is the best solution , kaspersky is a paranoid software , bitdefender is somewhat better on this occasion (gaming) i think i have seen it's anti-ddos measures in action when Russians were trying to ddos me out of call of duty , but it's not like they're gonna send a report to the Russian ISP and ask for the user to stop , Russia state sponsors her users to ddos everyone out of call of duty.

So what do you recommend? I have heard good things about bitdefender but you have to pay for it. Is there a free version of it? If not do you know any other free anti-virus that will not affect my games as much as Kaspersky?
