What should I put the Quality at on my camera

I know i sound like i shouldnt own a camera, but just thought I would ask so i can learn.

What do those letters refer to?
Large
Medium
Small


Probably L = Large = larger image = better quality = larger file size = fewer pictures before the SD card fills up.

But without actually knowing what it means in your camera, the above is just a guess.
