If everything looks good on the monitor you plug into, then you're looking at your laptop screen being the problem. You can replace that yourself or take it somewhere to get it done. That's best case scenario.

no that's fine. just needed to find out if you had a dedicated graphics chip, which you do.
So it's either the monitor is starting to go (relatively easy fix compared to the following) or your GPU is starting to fail (pretty much calls for a new laptop).
If you can, use a cable like HDMI or VGA to connect your laptop to a tv/monitor. that'll narrow down the problem
