what would happen if you change a spider in a speaker to a bigger one?

I am repairing a old speaker with a sinking spider but will putting a spider a size bigger be better

The spider connects the bottom of the cone to the frame so bigger won't fit.
If you use a different spider it may not be the same stiffness as the original so it would affect the motion of the woofer. Probably not for the better.
