I want to buy the upcoming PS4 Neo but I just need a new display to compliment its hardware.

I need a 40" 4K TV around $500 (or less) for gaming.
Doesn't need to have smart features or anything too fancy (although the this would be a bit preferred).

Any suggestions?

+CreepyBobo346 No, they won't run at ANY PLAYABLE FPS at true 4K, believe me. You need to have a GPU that's 4 TIMES the power of the GTX 850M (about the same power as PS4) to run games at 4K@45Hz (not 60Hz) at lowest graphical settings possible. PS4 Neo only has 30% more power than the PS4. I say this because I own a laptop that has a GTX 850M and I can never get 60FPS at 1080p even at lowest graphical settings possible. Both PS4 Neo and Xbox Scorpio will most likely use upscaling to be able to play at 4K.

I can't help you on price, but you'll need at least a 60hz true refresh rate for 4k to look decent while gaming. Remember that artificial refresh rates used in TVs don't count.

If you want to read on real refresh rates, please read:

That being said, this TV appears to be a good choice:

I vote for Sony TVs. They're the kings IMO. One favorite feature that you'll love to see is support of 1080p@120Hz (Oh, wait, you'll play using a console, why do I bother telling you this?) For low input lag, check Samsung TVs.

I think you should go for a 120Hz refresh rate tv.
Either of these

EDIT:- The vizio one has a effective refresh rate of 120 and not true hence the true is about 60.
however the lg claims trumotion 240 mhz but actually has a 120 mhz refresh rate.

Seems like a prime candidate for the kind of TV I'm looking for.
Is the picture quality and color reproduction good?

I don't like using displays that don't have good picture quality or good color reproduction.
(I hear Sony TVs have the best of both).

UPDATE:

The Sony X830C looks good, but it's $150 above what I like.
What do you think about it?

you need a good 4K TV for low input lag ..

sony x830c has good input lag

36 ms

http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x830c

Samsung UE48JU7000 4K has 26.6ms input lag

Panasonic TX-50CX700B 4K TV has 38ms input lag and is good for gaming ..

Samsung UE48HU7500 has only 40 ms input lag

however , some FHD TV from Sony has only 13 ms input lag , you cant beat FHD in gaming ..

example , Sony KDL42W705B

Also , why do you want to game on 4K ? it will be 30fps slow , The PS4 NEO Plays better on FHD giving solid fps at FHD , no need to go for 4K ...

if you want good gaming experience dont get a TV with more than 40ms input lag

after choosing a tv look for reviews about it and look at the input lag .. some are very bad 120ms

Sorry, forgot to mention, I also plan on buying the Project Scorpio somewhere in early 2018.
The PS4 might run the game at 30FPS at 4K (which is completely fine for me) but I the Scorpio might run it at 40+ FPS (if there isn't an FPS lock).
I just want to game in 4K.

I'll try looking for more displays with lower input lag and also take in suggestions.
