When is Android 4.4 going to be released?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and I was wondering when will be the new OS update (4.4 KitKat) available? On Android's site it is written "Currently only available on Nexus 5. Any idea on whether it will be available for other smartphones? Thank you.

That's not up to google. It IS released, and it could be on everybody's smartphone right now.

The trouble is that, in your case, you have to wait until Samsung bothers to configure the stock android and put out a release for your specific phone.

You could always root your phone and put CyanogenMod or stock android on it.

Using Kies software, you're able to upgrade. It should give you the option although I suggest googling what features are in it as apparently it's not that good.

I tried Kies, it says my phone's firmware is up to date, although it runs on 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. This is why I am writing here. Thank you.
