Where to Cool down a laptop?

Hi, I would like to know 'where' abouts is it best to cool down a laptop and where to position the cooling pad fans to cool and have a temperature drop effect? I keep trying different ways like taking the bottom cover off the laptop and blowing air into the hard drive and between the fan exhaust and the RAM. but while gaming it went up to 85 degrees C. And if I blow air with the cover on I get the impression its just blowing on the cover plastic and not making the inside cooler nor helping with air flow? please help and the laptop model is a Lenovo Z580. Thanks

i would expect those to make a 1-2C difference.

Underneath a laptop you'll see some vents, these are all inputs, the output is normally rear left or back of left hand side. blowing near the output may make it worse.

that's obvious air blowing near the output would be bad ! . you are correct with it making a one or two degree difference but thanks anyway
