I am debating between which laptop to buy. I want medium gaming with great movie quality and good rendering for engineering programs.

Here are the 2 I am considering:

http://store.asus.com/us/item/201605AM170000008/A47071-ASUS+ROG+GL502VT-DS71+Intel+i7+2.6GHz+16GB+DDR4+1TB+HDD+GTX970M+3GB+15.6-inch+Full+HD+Gaming+Laptop

and

lenovo.com Part number : 80NW002DUS

Any other suggestions are greatly welcomed.

The main components I am looking for are: 15 inch screen, quad-core processor (intel), dedicated strong graphics card (preferably nvidia as I don't know a lot about AMD), optimistically 16 gb ram, idk what screen resoulution would be best (one of the above is 4k and the other is 1080p), touchscreen is optional and not required, 500gb - 1tb hard drive (preferably with ssd) and a backlit keyboard.

I would like it to cost less than $1100 (both options above are exactly $1100).

Thank you for your responses.

They both have same CPU but the Asus is not 4k and has better GPU (and smaller price) so i would pick the asus :)
I dont really see the point in 4k gaming on laptop.

but would the 4k screen be used in movie viewing?

Plus the Lenovo has 256 SSD. the Asus doesn't have an SSD

It will be used in movie viewing , but will you download 4k movie that is ~40 gigs or ~12gig 1080p movie ? I was in electronics market in my town and i compared 4k vs 1080p TVs and from more than 2 meters distance you cant see the difference so ... you chose
