Which Nvidia Geforce GTX 980M variant is better, 4GB or 8GB?

I wan to buy an extreme gaming laptop that I would not have to change for the next 4-5 years. I am confused between Nvidia Geforce GTX 980M's 8gb and 4gb Variants. If 4gb is all right, I will buy an asus and if 8gb is even slightly better, I will buy a sager.

If you are running 4K or multiple high resolution monitors, the additional memory will be somewhat beneficial. If not, the 4GB variety is fine.

They're both good 8GB is obviously better if you want to game at resolutions higher than 1080p but otherwise both are fine for just 1920x1080. Desktop Graphic cards run cooler, as much as 40-50% cooler and might have some more horsepower but not much.
