Buying a new laptop, but i can't chose between an AMD A8 APU or a Core i5

I know that AMD is known for running hotter than intel, but the APU series are way cooler than other AMD CPUs. I have a A8 Desktop HTPC and i am very satisfacted with the temperatures. But i don't know about laptops...

So between a Core i5 laptop or an intel Core i5, which one will run cooler ?

Both would be Acer Aspire

Thanks !

Inadvertently, Junky77 is right that the Core i5 has higher IPC than the AMD Fusion chip, though.

But, SuperPi is really old... (x86 instruction sets old)

Credit where its due.

The trinity a10 is weaker than a sandy i5 mobile in cpu related tasks. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/a10-4600m-trinity-piledriver,3202-14.html

Stronger igp (note that ivy bridge uses hd 4000).

Generally speaking trinity will run much cooler than an intel chip because amd has designed trinity to throttle at much lower temperatures. Intel lets the chip get warmer. (I think trinity throttles at something like 60 degrees)
