Why do i get the message device is not connected for my dvd player using hdmi ca

Why do I get a message that my dvd player is not connected via hdmi cable, when it is?

You may need to turn the HDMI output of the DVD player on in one of the setup menus of the DVD. Connect it with any other video connection that the DVD and TV share and check the menus.
