I used to charge my earlier battery for "1hr 45min" to charge fully(10% to 100%). That battery which came with the new laptop had a life of 2.5 years. Then I replaced it with brand new battery manufactured by TOSHIBA itself...and I have been using it for the past 45 days....and even until this day it takes around "4hr 30min" to charge fully......My model is TOSHIBA satellite C-640 X-4010...brought back in august 2011....

you actively using it will draw more power, and depending what power profile you use (power save, entertainment, high performance) can change how much its drawing. the usual culprit to your battery charging issue is to clean the contacts between the battery and your computer, as well as the power brick to the computer (please make sure you unplug it and let it sit for a bit so you dont shock yourself lol). If that doesn't help would you happen to have another power brick that you can test with to see if that helps at all.
