Why does my acer aspire 4520 get hot within a few minutes after turning it on

why does my acer aspire get so hot when it is turned on within a few minutes it is so hot you can't hold it in your lap.

I believe holding in your lap will cover one of the ventlilation holes, does it still get real hot when sitting on a table/
Have you tried blowing out the vent holes to clear dust from the cooling fins?
