Why does my Nikon L830 sometimes stop recording on it's own? I push record again and it starts recording with no problem.

How long between starting and it stops?
Generally, cameras are limited to 29 minutes of record time.
It also might be a heat issue.

Basically what USAFRet said. I think a lot of Nikons are limited to 20 minutes. My D600 will only do 10 with the cracked firmware that lets me get 56 bit video.
