Solved! why does my stereo make a humming sound when i connect to my tv

When I connect my tv to my stereo to be able to listen to my tv through my stereo,I just get a humming sound from my stereo,I connect from one to the other with standard rac cables,red,yellow,white,the red for one speaker,yellow for the other speaker

Sounds like the infamous 60 hz ground loop.

Outlets may not be properly grounded.

If plugs have only 2 prongs, see if it let you reverse it, unplug, turn 180, replug, try, and good luck.

Use the red and white cables. Match the colors of the plugs. Red to red. White to white. The output of the TV to the input of the receiver.
