I have a digital tv that is connected to cable, but it does not pick up the cable channels, just the digital stations.

When I connected an old analog tv to the same cable, everthing is correct. Why is that?

Solution
If your TV does not have a QAM tuner it will only pick up over the air digital stations. If it does have a QAM tuner you may need to run a channel scan and let it go quite a while. It is also possible that the only channels that you can get on your cable system in digital without a cable box are the over the air channels.
