why wont my widows 7 accept v2 adapter

I bought a v2 Microsoft adapter to connect my tv and laptop.I can't seem to get it to connect.I
am using windows 7

What exactly is this v2 Microsoft adapter? v2 is probably "version 2", version 2 of what? Need some details, exactly what adapter, what laptop and what TV are you trying to connect?
